Quite a few readers asked me the component lists for my schematics. I decided to add them, but I disagree with the approach.
The need for the components list means that the user is definitely following the designer's indication, without any minor change and any adaptation to his own system.
All my published schematics have been tested and have been working for quite a while before being published, but this does not mean that they are the best you can achieve.
I for sure did not tested all the possible component combinations: I just found out a good one, and stitched to it.
Hence you should not avoid testing different components.
Especially where expensive components are used (here paper in oil capacitors, for example) there is definitely no real need to do the same. Probably you would not achieve the same transparent sound, but perhaps you do not need it, or even you would not like it, or you could also find an even better and lower cost solution. So if you have some far less expensive capacitors you are happy with, use them instead.
Never assume that the choice of a component, especially capacitors on the sound path, can better be made by someone who does not knows your taste and your habits: you are the only one that can really set up the perfect component for your taste.
So the notes near the components are just hints, there's nothing mandatory.
